125 Years at the Origins of Espresso
1901–2026
Roots in the past. Looking towards the future.
In 2026 Bezzera marks its 125th anniversary.
In 1901 Luigi Bezzera filed a patent that would help shape the future of coffee preparation. In a period of intense technological development in Europe, his design introduced innovative technical solutions for coffee machines, including the filter holder system that is still used in espresso machines today.
This innovation contributed to the development of a new way of preparing coffee: a beverage made at the moment of order, preserving freshness and aroma. Over time, this method became closely associated with the espresso culture that would spread throughout Italy and eventually around the world.
For Bezzera, 125 years represent not only a milestone, but also a journey shaped by innovation, manufacturing expertise and a long-term vision in a constantly evolving coffee market.
A Family Story Across Four Generations
For over a century, Bezzera has been shaped by four generations of the same family, combining tradition, technical innovation and manufacturing expertise.
After the pioneering vision of Luigi Bezzera, the company was led by Giuseppe Bezzera, who took over the business in 1922 and guided it through particularly challenging years, including the coffee embargo and the difficulties of the Second World War. Despite these circumstances, the company continued to develop its production and grow its activity.
A new phase of expansion began with Guido Bezzera, who opened the company to international markets and introduced new machine models, contributing to the company’s continued growth and development.
Today the company is led by the fourth generation, with Luca Bezzera, who has further strengthened the global presence of the brand while supporting the development of new technologies and products.
Over time, the company has remained faithful to its founding principles: technical innovation, manufacturing excellence and long-term partnerships.
Italian Manufacturing
Bezzera continues to maintain a strong connection with its manufacturing heritage.
A large part of the components used in Bezzera machines is designed and produced internally. Boilers, metal structures, pipes and brass components are manufactured within the company’s facilities using modern machinery and advanced production technologies.
Maintaining direct control over production allows Bezzera to ensure consistent quality standards while preserving the craftsmanship and expertise that characterize Italian manufacturing.
A Global Presence
Over the decades, the worldwide spread of espresso culture has gone hand in hand with the international growth of Bezzera.
Today the company distributes professional and semi-professional espresso machines in many countries through a network of specialized partners and distributors, contributing to the diffusion of espresso culture in different markets.
This global presence reflects a vision built over time through collaboration, technical expertise and long-term relationships.
The Next Chapter
The 125th anniversary represents not only a celebration of Bezzera’s history, but also the beginning of a new chapter.
Dedicated initiatives, special projects and new storytelling opportunities will accompany this important milestone.
Today Bezzera continues to look towards the future with the same spirit that has guided its history since the beginning: to innovate, evolve and interpret the constantly changing world of espresso.
Because after more than a century, the Bezzera story continues.
